The Rat Team has been busy ratting away to bring you our first charm bracelet and necklace.
I love little charms firstly of course because their size means they are rat inclusive, secondly because charm bracelets/necklaces are incredible, forever evolving, pieces of jewellery that say something unique about you. My Grandma gave me hers when I turned 12, I noted down from her where every single charm came from, each one had its own little story of travel, love or passion immortalised in this little metal diary. I look at it often but it feels too precious, and not my own to wear.
I wanted to make a selection of modern charms which represent today's weird and wonderful world.
I love the initial charms, their size means you can carry a whole name or several important people's initials with you, each letter or number is a different shape. I found traditional initial charms are cursive and ornate looking so wanted to offer something different.
Every charm is attached with a little clasp so they can be added to and moved around freely, they could also attach to an existing charm bracelet if you have it, equally other charms can be attached to the Rat Betty bracelet/necklace base. I chose this chain base because I love it plain, it works totally on its own but has amazing shaped wide links for plenty of charms too.
We are offering everything in silver on the website but please remember we can do pretty much anything in gold, you'll just need to contact us here or shoot us an email (info@ratbetty.com).
The pieces are now all up on our sterling silver charms collection page! If you're after a charm bracelet but don't know how to measure your wrist, we have some information here!
You can also build your own charm bracelet here or build your own charm necklace here.

How does one create a charm bracelet I hear you cry. Much like a fine wine you will need patience and time.
It also needs a theme, here are some ideas:
Theme 1: MOI - What essential things should people know about you? Your fave smell, drink, hat, socks, jug. Collect it all in the form of charms.
Theme 2: SOMETHING - Phoebe in our team wears her mum's charm bracelet which is shoe themed. Why not? Who doesn't love a shoe. They do a lot for us, honour them in silver.
Theme 3: LETTER - My name is Millie, perhaps I will exclusively have an 'M' themed bracelet. Think muffins, mugs, milk, magic, mangos, mouths, me.
Please also remember no theme, is a theme. Charms have no rules.
